1/14 Telluride, Colorado
Telluride is nestled within a box canyon surrounded on all three sides by soaring 14,000-foot mountain peaks. Often called the most beautiful ski town in North America, it features colorful Victorian-era homes, clapboard storefronts, art galleries, gourmet eateries, trendy bars, unique boutiques and more. While it was the first town in the world to get electric street lamps, it still retains the feel of bygone days with no stop signs, billboards or neon signs.
Sitting just above the town is one of the most impressive ski resorts in Colorado, Telluride Ski Resort. Due to Telluride's significant role in the history of the American West, the core area of the town was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964, the highest level of historic status available from the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
