1/11 Seattle, Washington
Seattle is renowned as the birthplace of the grunge music scene, spawned back in the early 1990s. It still embraces grunge today, and is home to a permanent exhibit devoted to Nirvana found at the EMP Museum. The famous record label credited with launching the movement, Sup Pop Records, is still based in Seattle and continues to give birth to outstanding indie rock artists like The Shins as well as famed hip hop artist Macklemore.
Seminal grunge band Mudhoney honored Sub Pop's 25th anniversary in 2013 by becoming the first band ever to play the roof of the more than 600-foot-tall Space Needle that summer. Visitors can also enjoy a fantastic live music scene at venues like The Showbox at the Market, The Highline and Columbia City Theater.
