1/13 Gullfoss Waterfall
Iceland's most famous and perhaps its most magnificent waterfall, Gullfoss Falls, are located in the upper part of River Hita long the legendary Golden Circle. It plunges down in two steps, one 36 feet high, and the other at 72 feet high, into the more than one-mile long canyon below. Often called "Golden Falls" as the cascading water truly looks golden when the sun comes out. On a sunny day, a shimmering rainbow can also be seen hovering over the falls.
To stand and witness its impressive beauty and the power of the water, is an uplifting, almost surreal experience.
